All-time Best Laptops Under 40000 Rupees in India

1. Lenovo Ideapad Core i5 7th Gen

First up, we have the Lenovo 320E, the machine looks premium at first glance. The laptop is 1mm thinner than the outgoing model, but the length and height of the machine are the same.

The Ideapad 320 feels nice to touch and is well built for the most part. However, there is some noticeable flex in the keyboard deck as well as in the lid. But compared to other budget laptops, this is better than most.

It is a 1920 x 1080p display, which is a good thing, Moreover, color reproduction isn’t very good and low display brightness doesn’t help either.

You get a large touchpad below the keyboard, with the left and right keys now integrated into the touchpad itself, it supports all Windows gestures.

The laptop sports the Intel Core i5-7200U processor, Lenovo pairs this CPU with 4GB DDR4 RAM. On paper, this combination looks really good and performs just as well in real life.

The laptop is snappy in all kinds of office tasks, ranging from opening office docs and mail to using a more multi-threaded workload, like encoding video files.

Using the machine as a daily driver with Office apps, browsing, FHD video playback, and some frequent video conversion, we faced no issues.

2. Acer Aspire 5 – A515-51G

The Acer Aspire 5 feels solidly built, with little or no flex in the screen corners and keyboard tray.

Finished in black plastic with a crosshatched texture on the lid, the laptop announces itself with a silver Acer logo in the center. A chrome strip borders the base and touchpad.

The sound from the bottom-mounted speakers is fair—bass is largely absent and high notes are slightly tinny, but there’s enough volume to fill a room and most instrumentals and vocals are clean and accurate.

Intel Core i5 7200u offers enough base performance to justify its designation as a multimedia device. With a dedicated 2 GB graphics card from Nvidia (GeForce MX150), you can play a diverse range of video games.

However, we recommend that the users make sure that their device is at least equipped with an SSD.

The Acer Aspire 5 A517-51G is a multimedia notebook, which is fit for everyday tasks quite well. With the arrival of the 7th generation of Intel’s Core series, the CPU performance was significantly increased.

Furthermore, with the Nvidia GeForce MX150, the laptop offers an entry-level graphics card, which can run a wide range of games quite well.

3. HP 15-BS145TU 15.6-inch

This is the latest launch by HP in India and features the latest 8th Gen Intel i5 processor with a Full HD screen in a 15.6 display.

It is all black, especially the sparkling black looks awesome and upmarket, the keyboard is Smooth chiclet keys without backlit.

Very good synaptic trackpad with multi-touch gestures. It could have been a little big though.

Coming to the processor- the Intel i5-8250U is the first in the lineup for laptop processors in the case of 8th Gen i5. It has a base clock of 1.6GHz and a turbo boost capable of 3.4GHZ. It has 4 cores and 8 threads compared to i5 7th gen which has only 2 cores and 4 threads.

Although it is underclocked compared to the 7th gen, it adds up the battery life and compensates that with 2 additional cores than the 7th Gen. Combine that with 8 GB of RAM we have a very smooth performer which can take all the latest software and mid-range games.

Battery life seems to be good considering the 8th Gen processor is slightly under-clocked. Even the battery charging is fast as promised by HP.

5. Lenovo IdeaPad 320-15ISK

The Lenovo Ideapad 320 is the predecessor to the no 1 ranked laptop in the top Laptops Under 40000 Rupees list, The 320E.

The plastic case of the IdeaPad comes in the color variant “platinum grey”. A pattern is imprinted on the topside of the chassis that gives it a brushed metal feel. The case appears to be well-built and therefore gives no cause for criticism.

Unfortunately, at 70 % brightness and below, the screen exhibits PWM flickering with a frequency of 25000 Hz. When it comes to color reproduction, the display fails to impress also.

IdeaPad comes with a 6th Gen Core i3-6006U dual-core processor. What we are dealing with here is a low-TDP, mid-range CPU, which has enough computing power to completely satisfy the requirements of most users.

The machine offers enough performance for all of today’s usage scenarios. Thanks to a dedicated graphics chip, users can also play video games on the device. We did not encounter any problems.

The battery life is also nothing to write home about. The laptop managed to reach a runtime of just 4 hours and 39 minutes in our Wi-Fi test while on battery power.

The display is another factor that you can boast around in this price range –  FHD with WLED technology.

The outlook is quite average, and leaves finger marks on the outer body, so a laminated cover will do the job.

The Intel Intel® CoreTM i5-8250U (1.6 GHz base frequency, up to 3.4 GHz with Intel® Turbo Boost Technology, 6 MB cache, 4 cores) delivers fantastic performance through the day and better management is top-notch.

The laptop isn’t meant for gaming hence it doesn’t have a dedicated graphics card but we think the Intel UHD 620 will do its job to a certain level.

The package of Windows 10 will come with loads of bloatware(as usual) so just delete them and you are ready to go. Adding another 4GB RAM will enhance the laptop’s performance at another level.
